Boonray Technology releases its first independently developed intelligent and safe human-machine interaction system HMI-100

2022-05-05

On April 27th, Boonray Technology officially launched its first intelligent and safe human-machine interaction system, the HMI-100, through an online press conference. Major manufacturers and industry experts, including State Power Investment Corporation Qiyuanxin Power, Weichai Special Vehicle, Hunan Electric Heavy Equipment, and Shandong Pengxiang, attended and witnessed the product launch online. This product, independently developed by Boonray Technology, is an intelligent and safe human-machine interaction system for mining transportation vehicles. Comprising an intelligent central control screen and an intelligent dispatching system, it can meet the dispatching and monitoring needs of various wide-body mining vehicles and rigid mining trucks.

Boonray Technology has been deeply engaged in mining areas for many years, providing autonomous driving technology services and operating autonomous driving fleets in various mining areas, including Luoyang Molybdenum Sandaozhuang, Jiugang Xigou Mine, Pangang Zhulan Iron Mine, Huaneng Huajian Coal Mine, and Inner Mongolia Zahannur Coal Mine. This has accumulated rich experience and a large amount of road test data and earthwork transportation volume, providing first-mover advantages such as scenario support and data support for product development. Boonray has also gained a clearer understanding of the business pain points of mining vehicle usage scenarios: frequent safety accidents in mining areas, low vehicle intelligence, and high management costs. These three pain points have made "intelligence" and "safety" the two core requirements for current mining vehicle operations. With the popularization of autonomous driving technology in mining areas, the mixed operation of manned and unmanned vehicles has also become a new focus in the industry. The HMI-100 launched by Boonray Technology has the ability to report the location of manned vehicles to the cloud in real time. Unmanned vehicles can seamlessly obtain the location of surrounding manned vehicles from the same background, effectively solving the problem of vehicle-mounted radar being unable to detect vehicles in blind spots in large-angle and heavily obscured conditions such as zigzag roads and unloading stations, thereby enhancing the safe driving of unmanned vehicles.

At the press conference, product manager Gu Shengjun introduced that the overall intelligence level of mining vehicles is still low compared to passenger car monitoring, and the corresponding management costs are high. Vehicle alarms, management prompts, and operational data mainly rely on the driver, and there is no quantitative and regular management platform; at the same time, the "Intelligent Demonstration Coal Mine Acceptance Management Measures (Trial)" issued by the National Energy Administration on December 2, 2021 also proposed clear scoring indicators for intelligent open-pit coal mines, which makes various alarm prompts and data analysis, and operation scheduling management a necessity for mining vehicles.

Boonray Technology's newly launched product, centered around an Android-powered central control screen on the vehicle side, includes three modules: job scheduling, data analysis, and fault alarms. The job scheduling module, a front-end module, provides drivers with job information, statistics, and real-time vehicle alarms. The data analysis module analyzes historical vehicle performance, driving behavior, and engine operating conditions. The fault alarm module retrieves historical faults from the cloud and displays their definitions in standard Chinese. Furthermore, the vehicle side supports optional 360-degree surround view, tire pressure monitoring, collision avoidance, and fatigue alarms to enhance vehicle safety. These functions are integrated into the central control screen, offering clear functionality and a low barrier to entry. In the cloud, the intelligent shoveling and loading scheduling system creates a high-precision, real-world map of the mining area, allowing for the configuration of operation zones such as loading, unloading, and dumping, and allows for the viewing of each vehicle's historical trajectory. The system also manages vehicle grouping and scheduling across the entire mining area from the cloud. It also analyzes vehicle operation data, including driving behavior and operating condition analysis, and provides multi-dimensional monitoring of vehicle fuel and power consumption and operating status.

During the Q&A session at the launch event, Gu Shengjun addressed concerns from manufacturers about the HMI-100's compatibility with various vehicle models. He explained that the product has been compatible with five mainstream vehicle models from OEMs including Weichai, Tongli, and Beizhong. While there's no universal protocol across the market, users only need to provide a bus protocol to establish an interface, allowing them to connect their vehicles to the system. This simplifies various forms of CAN data into standard gasoline and electric vehicle models, which are then uploaded to the platform for subsequent analysis and processing. Another manufacturer expressed concern about the HMI-100's stability in high-altitude, cold, and dusty environments. Gu Shengjun explained that the product underwent a two-month test run starting in January of this year on five mining vehicles at the Jiayuguan Jiugang Xigou Mine, located at an altitude of over 4,000 meters, and at the Huajian Mine in Inner Mongolia. The test operation was successful, with no operational issues reported. Winter temperatures at the Xigou Mine can drop as low as -20°C.
