CCTV Focus: Boonray Technologys new productivity illuminates the path of intelligent transformation in mines

Against this backdrop, Zhulan Iron Mine is actively embracing the transformative opportunities presented by new productivity. Recently, the CCTV program "China's New Productivity" visited the Zhulan Iron Mine of Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group to learn about the traditional mining industry's exploration of intelligent transformation.

In 2022, the "Pangang Mining 5G Remote Mining" project, jointly developed by Pangang Group, China Mobile, Huawei, and Boonray Technology, was selected as one of the GSMA's "2022 China 5G Vertical Industry Application Cases." This project, a 5G + smart mining solution tailored specifically for Pangang Mining's Zhulan Iron Mine, addresses three core scenarios: unmanned mining trucks, remote control of electric shovels, and remote control of drilling rigs. Powered by China Mobile and Huawei's 5G and edge computing technologies, it addresses key technical challenges in remote control and unmanned operation of open-pit mining equipment, such as high-definition video bandwidth uplink, low-latency control commands, and high reliability. Boonray Technology has enabled autonomous driving of mining dump trucks and remote control of electric shovels, significantly improving the mine's intelligence and production efficiency.


Boonray Technology has built a remote mine dispatch system based on a 5G network, achieving human-machine separation and enabling safe production operations under remote control. This system transforms hazardous work scenarios into unmanned operations based on the 5G network, significantly reducing safety risks. These devices, resembling arcade racing games, are actually replicas of real mining shovels, recreating the shovel cab at a 1:1 scale. Operators in the simulated cab can clearly see the shovel's operating status through the full-angle display of the visual interface, allowing them to make accurate decisions and operate the equipment. Using a joystick, they perform actions such as grabbing, steering, and placing items within the on-screen work area.

Boonray Technology, relying on its independently developed autonomous driving algorithms, has given mining vehicles new life. It enables functions such as automatic tracking driving, automatic planning of loading and unloading areas, and vehicle-shovel collaborative operations. Furthermore, its independently developed PDC and BCM software have also enabled breakthroughs in brake-by-wire, steering-by-wire, and lift-by-wire hydraulic valve assembly products. This not only enables the mass production of independent product designs for electrical wiring harnesses, but also applies functional safety redundant drive-by-wire control technology to practical scenarios. Furthermore, Boonray Technology is actively developing mixed manned and unmanned vehicle operations and collaborative operations with the discharge port scheduling system to further optimize mining operations, reduce waiting time and resource waste, and improve overall operational efficiency.



The intelligent transformation of Pangang Zhulan Iron Mine is another successful practice of Boonray Technology in the digital transformation of the mining industry.
