Boonray Technology attended the 2022 Commercial Vehicle Autonomous Driving Conference and was recognized as a high-quality smart mining solution provider.

2022-10-14

The 2022 Commercial Vehicle Autonomous Driving Conference, hosted by Gasgoo, recently concluded successfully in Shanghai. Boonray Technology was invited to participate as a "premium provider of autonomous driving solutions for unmanned mining areas." A conference report noted that initial commercial deployment of Level 4 autonomous driving technology has been achieved in low-speed, enclosed environments like mines and ports. Compared to passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles offer greater potential for implementation in terms of cost, market, technology, and regulations.

The conference brought together dozens of ecosystem partners, including Boonray Technology, with the goal of jointly breaking down information barriers between upstream and downstream industries and promoting the maturity of autonomous driving technology and the market. According to CITIC Securities, the potential market for commercial vehicle autonomous driving software and hardware is approximately 400 billion yuan, and the market for autonomous driving operational services is approximately 3 trillion yuan. In the coming period, commercial vehicles will become a key market-driven target.

The transition of autonomous mining trucks from concept to implementation worldwide dates back only a decade or so. The industry as a whole is still experiencing rapid growth and faces the same challenges as any new industry: high overall costs due to high upstream supplier costs and a lack of mass production; an incomplete ecosystem leading to a lack of compatible parts; and product instability and failures caused by inconsistent rules and standards. As a key player in the entire industry chain, Boonray Technology has consistently integrated its capabilities with upstream and downstream stakeholders, maintaining open channels of collaboration with industry stakeholders and bridging existing industry challenges through project experience and data iteration. The healthy development of the industry chain requires both vertical expansion by enterprises and horizontal collaboration across the industry. The implementation and rollout of autonomous driving in mining areas requires technology companies to continuously improve their algorithmic capabilities. It also relies on the support of numerous upstream players: sensor component manufacturers to increase production capacity and reduce marginal costs and prices; and the support of three-electrical (Electrical, Electronics, and Power) equipment manufacturers. Remote control also requires a more stable and low-latency 5G signal, as well as the effective operation of battery swap stations and other partners.

The industry has completed construction from zero to one over the past three to five years. Over the next one to two years, breakthroughs will be achieved in both productization and large-scale replication, putting it on the fast track to success. Boonray Technology is working with State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) to promote industry standards for all-electric driverless mining vehicles through forward design. Inner Mongolia alone has a policy mandate of deploying 1,200 driverless mining vehicles by 2025. Xinjiang has also prioritized the construction of its first four intelligent demonstration coal mines, accelerating the implementation of intelligent coal mines. By the end of 2022, the goal is to have at least 15 intelligent demonstration mines in operation. The turning point for large-scale replication is approaching.
